ON THE BIG PHARMA PAYROLL:
Medical & Science “Experts”
“It was like winning the lottery,” Dr. Paul Offit told Newsweek, after the rights to the vaccine that he held a patent on sold for $182 million.
The medical “expert” most often in the media spotlight when vaccines are in the news, Dr. Offit is the inventor of RotaTeq, a rotavirus vaccine. He holds a $1.5 million research chair funded by Merck, and is arguably the most vocal and aggressive physician on the Pharma payroll promoting the vaccine agenda.
He is also one of the most blatant examples of how vaccine industry insiders influence and set policy for our vaccination program.
In a 2000 hearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform Dr. Offit was cited for conflicts of interests in the CDC approval process of the vaccine he developed.
“At our April 6th autism hearing, Dr. Paul Offit disclosed that he holds a patent on a rotavirus vaccine and receives grant money from Merck to develop this vaccine. He also disclosed that he is paid by the pharmaceutical industry to travel around the country and teach doctors that vaccines are safe. Dr. Offit is a member of the CDC’s advisory committee and voted on three rotavirus issues, including making the recommendation of adding the rotavirus vaccine to the Vaccines for Children program.”
In plain terms, Merck paid Paul Offit to develop a new vaccine and he used his CDC advisory position to get it on the recommended (and in some pediatric practices, mandatory) schedule. Rotavirus vaccines are now given to infants three times, at 2, 4, and 6 months of age.
How great a public health threat was rotavirus in the U.S.?
Rotavirus, which can cause diarrhea and dehydration, is a serious problem in third world countries, where access to clean drinking water, good nutrition and proper sanitation is limited. But according to pediatrician Dr. Paul Thomas, America has no need for a rotavirus vaccine.
“I have been practicing pediatrics for thirty years. I can count on one hand the number of children needing hospitalization for diarrhea and vomiting. Since I opened my practice in 2008, not a single child has received the rotavirus vaccine. I refuse to stock it. Yet only one child in seven years has been hospitalized for severe dehydration. The unvaccinated children in my practice either are not getting rotavirus, or the illness is so mild that it requires no intervention.” (The Vaccine-Friendly Plan, c.2016)
Getting a vaccine on the schedule means big payoffs. Holding a patent to a scheduled vaccine ensures millions of dollars in royalties. Dr. Offit’s share of the $182 million is undisclosed; it has been estimated that he “stands to earn a total of between $13-35 million over the life of his rotavirus vaccine patents.”
Conflicts of interest are the rule, rather than the exception, in CDC affairs. The Committee on Government Reform report concluded:
“The CDC routinely grants waivers from conflict of interest rules to every member of its advisory committee… Four out of eight CDC advisory committee members who voted to approve guidelines for the rotavirus vaccine in June 1998 had financial ties to pharmaceutical companies that were developing different versions of the vaccine.”
The RotaTeq vaccine contains polysorbate 80. It has also been revealed to contain a dangerous live simian retrovirus; to be contaminated with two lethal pig viruses; and to cause intussusception, which can lead to intestinal rupture, internal bleeding, and death. (source) The VAERS database, estimated to represent only 1-2% of all vaccine injuries and deaths, reports over 6,000 Emergency Room visits and 573 deaths from Rotavirus vaccines, 380 of those deaths from RotaTeq.
That has not deterred Dr. Offit from staunchly defending vaccine safety. Funded by Pharma to travel the country reinforcing the “safe and effective” message to other doctors, in 2004 he claimed that vaccines are “without question, the safest, best-tested thing we put into our bodies. I think they have a better safety record than vitamins.”
Among his many other outrageous statements:
• Aluminum, a known neurotoxin in vaccines, is “believed to play an important role in the development of a healthy fetus.” (source)
[It is so toxic, as disclosed by the manufacturer’s Material Safety Date Sheet, that unused Thimerosal-containing vials must be disposed of as hazardous waste.]
• In theory, healthy infants could safely get up to 10,000 vaccines at once. That figure was later upped: “I would say you probably could get 100,000 vaccines every day.” (source)
Dr. Offit has been the leading medical voice for eliminating parents’ right to choose, stating that he, not you, knows what’s best for your children.
And that means mandating all CDC-scheduled vaccines.
Big Pharma not only bankrolls doctors who legitimize its propaganda, it also oversees the research required for vaccine approval. It is the drug companies’ own scientists, not independent labs, who provide data to the FDA showing a vaccine is safe and efficacious.
Two former Merck virologists blew the whistle in 2010, describing how industry scientists are ordered to manipulate and bury data to achieve desired outcomes. In a lawsuit pending against Merck, they allege that the efficacy data on the mumps component of the MMR vaccine was falsified to get it approved.
They charge that, “the ultimate victims here are the millions of children who every year are being injected with a mumps vaccine that is not providing them with an adequate level of protection against mumps.”
And according to their complaint, these scientists were threatened with jail if they alerted the FDA to the fraud being committed. (source)
Media
In a conversation he had with Roger Ailes, media mastermind and then-chairman of Fox News, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. learned why he was not allowed to question vaccine safety:
“I talked to Roger Ailes, who I’ve known since I was 17 years old – he was very sympathetic with this issue, he saw the movie Trace Amounts. I said to him, ‘I just want to go on one of your shows. Nobody will allow me to talk about this or debate me.’
“He said to me, ‘I can’t allow you on any of them. I’d have to fire any of my hosts that allowed you on my station. Because,’ he said, ‘my news division gets up to 70% of advertising revenues during non-election years from the pharmaceutical companies.’” (source)
The U.S. is one of only two countries in the world that allows direct-to-consumer drug advertising. Over $5 billion is spent annually marketing drugs through media outlets. It’s a revenue stream which ensures that Big Pharma writes the script.
With Pharma advertising dollars paying media salaries, any challenge to the official narrative about our vaccination program is off-limits. Vaccine profiteers like Paul Offit are welcome to promote Pharma’s agenda, but any criticism or debate is censored.
Media’s job is:
• to repeat the PR slogans – all vaccines are safe and effective, vaccines save lives, and the science is settled;
• to generate public fear of infectious diseases – the next plague is on its way; and
• to discredit, vilify, or ignore critical voices – anyone questioning vaccine safety is a quack.
Epidemic vaccine injury and deaths taking place are denied and covered up. There is a blackout, for example, on the worldwide damage and deaths from HPV vaccines.
“Most Americans are in the dark that a brushfire is burning in countries all over the world, including Japan (where HPV vaccine uptake rates are down to 1%), Denmark (near 10%), Colombia (near 5%), Ireland, Sweden, Spain, New Zealand, France, Canada, and India where the startling rate of vaccine injury and questionable risk-benefit is fueling repeated national controversies.” (source)
A 2016 Canadian study tracking nearly 200,000 women in 2006–2014, showed that nearly one in ten who received HPV vaccinations had such severe adverse events that they ended up in emergency rooms.
While stories like these are censored, the slightest upticks of treatable diseases are hyped to create fear and fuel a political drive for mandatory vaccination.
RFK Jr. describes the “national media frenzy over 159 measles cases” in 2014:
“The measles scare was classic disaster capitalism, with media outlets dutifully stoking public hysteria on editorial pages and throughout the 24-hour broadcast cycle. With Dr. Offit leading the charge, CDC, drug makers and industry-funded front groups parlayed a garden variety annual measles outbreak into a national tidal wave of state legislation to ban religious and philosophical vaccine exemptions.” (source)
That tidal wave continues, with bills currently in 40 states to limit or eradicate vaccination choice.
Legislators
Pharmaceutical lobbyists outnumber members of Congress three to one, pouring more money into political coffers than any other industry. Much as Pharma advertising dollars have bought control of the media, financial payouts to senators and state representatives buy legislation which is incrementally removing medical freedom of choice.
In 2015, California Senator Richard Pan showed the world how lobbyists run the show during deliberations over the Pharma bill he c0-authored, SB 277. This bill mandates full vaccination per the CDC childhood schedule, imposing state control over parental decisions for all children in public or private schools.
”We have pictures of Senator Pan talking to pharmaceutical lobbyists on the House floor when this bill was about to be voted on. Meanwhile, behind him, are standing-room-only people… saying ‘do not pass this bill.’ Outside, thousands of protesters: ‘do not pass this bill.’ And he ignored them and looked at the pharmaceutical lobbyists.” (source)
Video footage shows Pan turning to a man in a suit standing behind him when asked to make a crucial decision about the pending vote. The man walks over to Pan, they confer in whispers, and Pan then announces his decision. The man was identified as a lobbyist. “When Richard Pan turns to Hicks and Norman for his orders, it becomes clear that these individuals are the ones behind senate bill 277.”(source)
According to the Sacramento Bee, “Pharmaceutical companies and their trade groups gave more than $2 million to current members of the Legislature” in support of SB 277. Senator Richard Pan was the top recipient of industry campaign cash, over $95,000 for this bill alone.
This landmark California bill giving the state control over our children’s bodies – in violation of the Nuremberg Code – is the model that lobbyists are working to enact all across the country.
CDC-Pharma Revolving Door
The revolving door between Big Pharma and government agencies like the FDA, NIH and CDC is legend. Government employees who toe the Pharma line often advance from the public payroll to far more lucrative jobs in the industry they were formerly hired to monitor and regulate.
Julie Gerberding exemplifies the revolving door system. CDC Director from 2002 to 2009, Gerberding undertook a massive reorganization that “crippled the organization’s ability to assess any negative impact pharmaceuticals, including vaccines, have on public health. Five of six former CDC directors complained to Gerberding, writing: ‘strategic shifts in the agency’s focus are putting public health at risk.’ “ (source)
“Soon after she took over the CDC, she reportedly completely overhauled the agency’s organizational structure, and many of the CDC’s senior scientists and leaders either left or announced plans to leave. Some have claimed that almost all of the replacements Julie Gerberding appointed had ties to the vaccine industry.” (source)
It was during Gerberding’s tenure at the CDC that research was covered up showing a link between Merck’s MMR vaccine and increased rates of autism. In an internal letter to Gerberding from CDC senior scientist and researcher Dr. William Thompson in 2004, Thompson describes problematic findings of “statistical associations between the receipt of MMR vaccine and autism.” (source)
When Gerberding learned of the disturbing findings, whistleblower Thompson claims an orchestrated suppression of data was performed. Data was manipulated and falsified to eliminate the apparent risk. Scientists were then ordered to destroy all incriminating documents, to protect the vaccine program at the expense of children and maintain Merck’s market for MMR. The public was lied to, and in the face of continuing damage, parents of vaccine-injured children were told by the CDC that "the science was settled" and vaccines were not responsible.
“I can’t believe that we did what we did,” said Dr. Thompson when he finally blew the whistle a decade later on the scientific fraud at the CDC (see Vaxxed).
Forbes magazine listed Gerberding among The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women in 2007 and 2008. She resigned from the CDC on January 20, 2009.
“President Obama fired her as head of CDC in early 2009. Within just a few weeks Gerberding went from that $250,000 per year CDC salary to become the president of Merck’s Vaccine Division at an estimated salary of $2,500,000 per year." (source)
Three weeks after leaving the CDC, Gerberding had a job paying millions, ten times what she had made in her government position.
Merck is the supplier of 14 of the 17 pediatric vaccines recommended by the CDC, and 9 of the 10 recommended for adults. Gerberding owned shares of Merck stock valued at more than $4 million. In 2015 she sold 38,368 shares of her Merck stock on the open market for $2,340,064.32. She still owns 31,985 shares of the company’s stock, currently valued at about $2 million.
Merck’s CEO described Gerberding as the “ideal choice” to head up their vaccine division.
Conflicts of interest, disregard for safety, and revolving doors between government and Big Pharma continue to erode public confidence in agencies that are supposed to protect us.
“The price we pay for not paying attention is the loss of health, as the information disseminated by grossly compromised health agencies is skewed in favor of various industries, with Big Pharma leading the pack as one of the most powerful political and governmental influences.” (source)
Medical Schools
From the content of medical textbooks to pharmaceutical research grants offered to universities, Big Pharma’s control over what students learn permeates medical education. Add to that marketing strategies targeting both students and teachers.
“Medical students’ exposure to pharmaceutical marketing begins early, growing in frequency throughout their training. Students receive gifts such as free meals, textbooks, pocket texts, small trinkets and even drug samples…Pharmaceutical companies, recognizing the formative nature of the clinical years of medical education, seek to form relationships with medical students years before they are ready to independently practice medicine. These interactions intensify throughout a physician’s training, ranging from trivial gifts such as pens and pads to more questionable large honoraria and consulting fees.” (source)
Beyond the standard indoctrination—that vaccines eliminated smallpox and polio, that they are “safe and effective,” and that the CDC schedule represents the highest standard of care—vaccines are not on the medical curriculum. In three years of intensive medical training, there is no information about how vaccines are made, how they are tested, what they contain, or what risks they carry.
The necessity of all vaccines promoted by the CDC is assumed, and safety is not to be questioned. As described by Dr. Suzanne Humphries, “Doctors are trained that NOTHING bad should be said about any vaccine, period.” They are to be taken on faith as a modern medical miracle.
What IS a growing subject for both medical students and practicing physicians is how to manage parents described as “vaccine hesitant.” As Dr. Humphries discloses in material presented by a pediatric professor at the Mayo Clinic, doctors are advised that they should not give patients any printed information and to “persuade rather than inform.” (source)
In November 2016, Dr. Humphries got a first-hand look into what medical students are being indoctrinated with today. She attended an event titled Confronting Vaccine Resistance, held at NYU Medical School. It featured Dr. Paul Offit and Senator Richard Pan (also an M.D.) as key speakers.
Both Dr. Pan and Dr. Offit, two of America’s most outspoken advocates for mandatory vaccination, were repeatedly lauded as heroes, she said. From Dr. Humphries’ notes taken at the event, and her comments:
• They said, “Don’t compromise with an alternative vaccine schedule. There is only one valid vaccine schedule and it is not up for conversation.” The advice was to tell the patient “these are the vaccines that are going to be given today.” "Be uncompromising."
• “Tell horror stories to your patients.” …those horror stories can shut down the brain and make you do the desired activity.
• Dr. Offit said that pediatricians are cultivated to be compassionate and listen to all points of view, but that they shouldn’t do that in this particular situation.
Dr. Humphries summarized the event as “more social engineering and brainwashing of medical students.”
In opposition to the scientific principle, today’s medical students are discouraged from questioning or keeping an open mind when the subject is vaccines. In violation of the Nuremberg Code, they are taught to disregard informed consent. The pediatricians' job is to enforce mandatory vaccination. Increasingly, physicians are advised to refuse medical treatment to patients who will not follow the CDC guidelines.
The original hero of medicine, Hippocrates—and the Hippocratic oath, First, do no harm—have been superseded by new role models and allegiances. Today’s “heroes” promoted by the medical-pharmaceutical complex reject compassion, prey on fear, and deny freedom of choice.
